Children while living on the streets and platform are mostly involved in activities like, rag picking, selling mineral water bottles/ groundnuts, begging, carrying luggage for passengers, etc. Some mislead ones earn and live by pick pocketing, drug peddling and other questionable activities without any vision or hope for the future.
KARM MARG was evolved by a group of children living on the platform of New Delhi Railway Station and some concerned people. They felt that together with guidance of some friends they would create a place, which will be their home in times of distress and pave a path of their self willed growth and progress. Where they would share their happiness and sorrows, and explore avenues to learn and live with confidence & dignity.
KARM MARG began its journey on 7th February 1997: Now we arranged a space near New Delhi Railway Station and on 1st November 1997 we shifted the home to Faridabad. Children run the home at Faridabad themselves in groups, with guidance, supervision, love and affection of friends. Here they are provided shelter, education, nutrition, medical, counseling and vocational training for the young adults.
The objective is to provide a loving and healthy environment for their childhood and avenues towards self-sustenance. Also to create a team that would get trained to work and bring a change in the lives of their friends on streets.
Now, we are living at Karm Gaon, a concept conceived and designed along with the children of the campus on 1.5 acre of land in village Khedi Kalan in Faridabad. The campus includes residential, kitchen & dinning blocks and training workshop.
